Winter is here! The gooseberries need to be pruned but the Seville oranges have arrived in the market so they will have to wait till the marmalade is made!…. Winter time is never very busy in an allotment but there are some jobs that need to be completed before the spring.
We have spent a lovely few hours pruning the blackcurrant bushes. Thankfully the wind is not too biting today so can get the job done without our fingers freezing . We have 6 bushes that produce great currants in the summer so well worth the effort now with the thought of all the beautiful jam ahead of us…. Some photos from Winter at the allotment.
